Project New Orleans...
Is a volunteerism effort designed to contribute to the rebuilding of New Orleans’ medical infrastructure
In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity, and Daughters of Charity, volunteers participating in the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Project New Orleans during the 2007 Clinical Congress will contribute to establishing a new medical clinic in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans’ 9th Ward. There are several ways to contributethrough hands-on service, by contributing funds for needed equipment and supplies, and through financial donations that the clinic can apply to other areas where needed.
The hands-on aspect of Project New Orleans involves demolition of the interior of the first floor of a school building that will house a medical clinic, Daughters of Charity Health CenterSaint Cecelia’s, New Orleans. It will be physical work, but not particularly difficult. Once the physical clinic space has been established, equipment and supplies will be needed. If you’d like to help out in that regard, you can make your financial contribution online directly to the sponsoring agencies through the Project New Orleans Web site.
